Wavy Surface

The Scholarship Committee cultivates relationships with potential donors to obtain sponsorship in support of AWIS NV mission and events. We also maintain a sponsor database and ensures appropriate acknowledgement of donations upon receipt. The committee strives to advocate, connect, and build bridges between AWIS NV and the sponsor community.

 

We are currently seeking someone to:

  • Secure funding and resources through networking and engagement with current and potential sponsors

  • Source and apply for grants to support AWIS NV

  • Represent the sponsorship committee at AWIS NV events

  • Collaborate with the Event Committee to ensure sponsors’ interests are represented at AWIS NV events (e.g. advertising, sponsor participation)

  • Attend quarterly committee meetings

 

Time commitment: 2-4 hours/month, but can vary pending availability.

Opportunities to Engage!

Leadership:  Executive Board, Steering Committee and Committee Chairs

Marketing & Communications Committee

Our committee is responsible for the marketing and communications of AWIS NV's events including mentoring circles, leadership programs. and scholarship announcements.

 

We are looking for someone who are interested in gaining marketing experience. Potential tasks include maintaining our lists, website (WordPress), and/or social media accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram) including designing marketing materials for AWIS NV events. We are also looking for a volunteer interested in using our social media data to analyze trends and make suggestions on how to improve our marketing. No experience necessary.

 

Time commitment: ~2-3 hours/month, varies depending on assignment; a few times a year, more substantial time may be required.

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee aims to build awareness and further the growth of AWIS NV, improve our members’ experience, and support and develop strategic plans and initiatives. If you want to develop leadership skills, expand your network, and give back to the community, join our team!

 

We are looking for someone to network at local events, helping recruit new members; host table at AWIS NV event registration to sign up new members and help explain the benefits of membership; help come up with strategy to increase diversity (field of study, career level, and employment sector) and number of members; help develop handouts for new members; collect and analyze data on membership.

 

Time commitment: ~3 hours/month. Shared responsibility for attending internal and external events and periodical phone meetings to discuss strategy.

Mentoring Committee

The mentoring program aims to help both mentor and mentee to set important development goals and competence for their career. We are currently looking for volunteers to help run our mentoring program. Throughout the volunteering experience, you will have a chance to lead/co-lead an event, as well as serve as a connector of our mentoring circles.

 

We are looking for someone to help manage annual mentoring circle program. Activities include mentor and mentee recruitment, application update, circle matching, circle management, resource packet assembling, planning of mentor training events as well as the kick off and end of year celebration events.

 

Time commitment: ~ 4 hours per month

Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee manages all AWIS NV scholarships. We are responsible for coming up with scholarship policies and workflows. Volunteer activities include soliciting and reviewing applications, awarding scholarships, tracking awardees to ensure they are getting the most of their scholarships.

 

Time commitment: ~1-2 hours/month but may be more concentrated around application review times.

Treasury Committee

Join the treasury to strengthen your skills in general financial oversight, budget preparation, financial reporting, banking, book-keeping and record-keeping.

 

We need someone to assist in the following:

  • Downloading PayPal transaction records and comparing with registration record from Constant Contact to summarize revenues from each event

  • Issuing reimbursements as requested and compile, request and record receipts

  • Working with all the committees to draft the budget for the year

  • Providing Budget overviews, updates and concerns (if any) to quarterly board meetings

  • Facility with Microsoft Excel is a plus

 

Time commitment: 2-4 hours a month, but can vary
